Default Dragon Age SLI issue

Alright I been looking around for answers to this question and haven't been able to find anything so I decided to sign up here. This will also be vague since I am in class and not at home >.>

I have dragon age on my desktop (core i7 2.66 ), and the video cards I have are 2 GTS 250s. ( When I get home I will post my comp. specs). According to device manager my drivers are updated to current versions.

Anyways, if I run Dragon Age in sli with v-sync off I get 60-70 fps, but get a large hit on fps during play that will drop as low as 20-30 fps for a second or two and go back up to normal. With v-sync it will stay at 60 fps, but again still drops randomly to 20-30 and then go back up. However; if I run the game using only one card and v-sync off I get 70-90 fps and with v-sync on it will stay at a constant 60 fps. While using one card I do not get those fps drops. (tested by saving a game and running around a bit)

edit: I run the game using a res of 1280:1024. My CPU usage is around 40-50% while I play the game and I have 6 gigs of ram DDR3. OS is vista ultimate x64
