I got this game yesterday and played around to get SLI working with it.

Unfortunately with little success. AFR doesn't work at all, since the game doesn't work correctly as soon as VSync is forced off.

SFR works, but there's only a very slight, if any performance gain. In many situations, the performance seems to be lower than without SLI.

I'd be interested, if anyone else has tried that game and had more luck than I did...

P.S.: I disbaled the frame rate limiter, of course...

Ok SLI is working .. even when using AFR2 default@nvidia CP.
anyway my performance with 8xSSAA is no good@1600x1200,16xAF(HQ) .. so i had to reduce it to 4xGCAA to get steady 25+ fps.

Wait i'm getting lots of shimmering in the game unlike my other ATi PC .. wtf!

Hello everyone. I just got my first SLI machine and are unfamiliar with customizing the settings. I found this great site and was wondering if someone could help me.

I have GTA SA and I have the latest Nvidia drivers for my 6800GT's. When I have SLI config disabled the game plays fine but when I try to enable SLI the game will not even start. It says the program has encountered an illegal operation and needs to close. I haven't installed the nHancer tool yet but I will tonight and test it out.

Can someone explain what AFR is? Not sure what some of the lingo is. I do know AA and AF but that is about it. Thanks in advanced.

I installed the .net and nhancer and added the gta file. I enabled SLI on my pc and GTA SA still got the GTA.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down. No matter what I do it will not start with SLI enabled. Any ideas?

You could try and backup your save files then reinstall as i never encounterd that problem and i´m running it under xp64 both with SLI and without works fine.

have any of you tried this without the frame limiter on? i get odd issues (BIG maroon scan lines and maroon flashing). i've gotten the maroon before when tinkering with SLI profiles, just my setup's way of telling me it doesn't like what i've done i think. it seems to work fine when the frame limiter is on, but i'd like to have it off

Thats why theres a framerate limiter i guess.

i dont have the issues you talked about though .. not from the last time i played the game at least (on the 77.72).

I reinstalled it but no luck. It plays fine on my single 6800GT so I guess I will not worry about it. Maybe games in the future will be able to utilize SLI better. I hope.

well if i can't get the game to work without the frame limiter with sli under the current config, i'd like to know if anyone has tweaked the profile's SLi at all with any success.

Just a newbie SLI user here. But working on x64 with two 6600GT cards.

Of course I didn't know GTA:SA was not SLI friendly until after doing the upgrade (mainly for BF2), so here I am, after a whole weekend of wondering what's going on and finding all the info I need right here at nHancer!

But, then realizing that nHancer is x32 only right now. :(

So I guess my main question to those wizards of tweaking is how would I translate the information in the XML formatted nhprofile file to the specific registry settings needed to get GTA:SA working.

Or is that just a loaded question. :)

I'm totally into tweaking my system, including the registry, (I have so for many years) so if there is a step-by-step on which registry settings are the ones to tweak I would be VERY grateful!

Thanks tons!

The .NET 2.0 version of nHancer is already running. But I have some problems with x64 (more with the Visual Studio 2005 Beta under X64 so be honest).

But stay tuned, it should be available shorty. For real this time... :)

Absolutely no rush on this...not being able to play the game is probably helping me get the pastey white color out of my skin by forcing me outside. :)

Thanks again!
