So anyways i plan to go tri-sli, in 2 weeks. Here is what i'm trying to find out though. Buying a fourth GTX 480 and setting it for dedicated physx would work correct?
I've had tri sli but never had the option to set a dedicated phsyx card. I read some where it only works with a different model card. I'm trying to confirm though before i buy 4 480's as opposed to the 3 in 2 weeks

Well nvidia missed launch on 2009 and since i don't touch ati due to support and drivers. I can afford an extra card or two.
I was hoping for more detailed response as to why it wouldn't work. I've seen people enable quad gpu sli support with phsyx and tri sli with phsyx exisits. So my question is what exactly is the problem and why wouldn't it work that way.

well you said it yourself :
"I've had tri sli but never had the option to set a dedicated phsyx card."
if those people you said got it to work didnt they say how they did it?
how to set a specific graphic card to be used as a physx one?

Well i haven't talked to those people directly, i've read around on other threads, but your missing the point, i only had 3 cards and from what i understand sli would be the option by default for those 3 now in this case if i had 4 480's.
What i'm wondering is would the fourth work as a dedicated phsyx card, since unlike my previous setup i would have an abundant video card. Thats what i'm trying to find out.
The other threads, i haven't seen anybody do what i was trying to do, most i seen was 2 x 295's with a 285 for Phsyx. I'm trying to confirm whats going on here.

Answered my own question, its possible to run fourth GTX 480 as dedicated phsyx.
I guess the remaining questions for anybody else who stumbles upon this thread looking for an answer.
Is it possible to make the 3rd gpu in a tri sli setup run as a dedicated card?

As far as I understand it, this can be done for SLI setups with drivers >= 257.21. Here you can set a dedicated card/GPU for doing the PhysX work even when SLI is active across all your installed nVidia cards.
