I am a novice gamer using Flight Sim 9. I have an older Gateway computer with a new geforce 6200 AGP card and Gateway EV910 monitor.
I heard about nhancer and wonder if it will do good things for me. I started the installation process and it displayed the message:
"Please note that this version of nHancer requires a GeForce driver 182 or later!"
I have explored my system to see if I meet that requirement but can't find a 182 designation anywhere. Can someone tell me where it might be?
Also, the nvidia control panel allows me to set all kinds of options. I don't understand them all. I may not have the technical skill to use nhancer fully, so even if I have driver 182 does anyone have an opinion about whether I may be able to get something out of nhancer?
Thanks Very Much, Gary

You should visit nVidia's website and look for the latest driver for your graphic card. Look at www.nvidia.com.

Thank you. I looked at nVidia.com and downloaded the latest driver(s). Unfortunately my display became unstable after installing so I rolled back to the driver that came on the product CD. I would think that a newer driver would improve operation but this has done the opposite.
By the way, nice looking bike.
Thanks again for your suggestion. --Gary

Thanks :)
Just out of curiosity: What gfx card are you using?

I'm not sure what you're looking for. It's not an impressive card. msinfo32 lists it as an nvidia-compatible GeForce 6200. The box had a very stylish evga logo on it so I assume that's the manufacturer. It has only 256MB but that's quadruple what this old system came with. Works much better and will have to be good enough until I can afford a more powerful machine.
What kind of machine do you ride? I've ridden off-road since 1969, most recent bike was a Suz DRZ 400 4-stroke, although I prefer a smaller 2-stroke in the forest. Fell in love with a Ducati desmo many years ago but was always a little concerned about people on the road aiming for me so didn't do anything but look at it.

Your 6200 is indeed quite old (considering the short-liveness of computer components) and you're better off sticking with your old driver, indeed.
If you still want to use nHancer, you have to use version 2.4.5, which is still available on the download page (http://www.nhancer.com/?dat=downloads) if you scroll all the way down.
I ride a Yamaha YZF-R1. Usually I'll go to a racing track two or three times a year, just for fun. But I really suck off-road, I tried it once and really couldn't get the hang of it. Still, I might just need more training, but in Germany it's not that easy since it's forbidden almost everywhere to ride off-road.
Ducati bikes are very common here in Europe, and they're a beauty to look at for sure. However they also have a reputation for being very sensitive, and if you're not really good with mechanics (which I am not), it's not the best choice.
What do you mean by "people aiming for you" with a Desmo? Concerned about theft or that they literally might hit you and cause a crash?

I've had road riding friends tell me that someone deliberately tried to run them off the road. My only experience was a little old lady who either didn't see me (even though I had my lights on) or decided "That little motorbike can get out of my way." Either way, I could see myself eventually becoming a grease spot.
Also, when you ride off road you can wheelie without worrying about the police and you can show off. Oh, also you can usually crash on something softer than concrete.
I live in north central North Carolina, which still has a lot of rural, rideable area, but property is quickly being gobbled up by land develeopers who buy forest, then strip every living thing from it and put up buildings that stay vacant for a year or more. Doesn't make sense. All to make money.
