ok, ive got fps_max=100
so i should be good to go for 100fps ingame. but, i am only able to get 60fps. in the old days, i could apply a patch and break the limit. this is for the classic game of counter-strike.
does anyone have some tips on how to break that 60fps barrier?
dual GeForce 7800 GTX SLI configuration.

If your fps is limited to 60, the problem is almost certainly the vertical sync.
You can disable VSync to increase your nominal framerate, but remember that this wont increase the actual number of frames displayed by your screen, since the display screen (TFT, correct?) itself can't display more that 60 discreet frames per second.
That's why VSync limits your framerate to 60 in the first place.
You can also check out http://www.nhancer.com/help/VSync.htm for additional info about vertical sync and its effects.

ok, yes i believe it was the vsync. one of the guys at guru3d said to "uncheck application control" and that was the fix needed. i think that may have been related to the vsync.
gone are the days when i would just put in my nvidia Guillemot Hercules II 64mb (not Pro) and watch it work.

1.6 has vsync on, i don't think it's possible to disable it :\ not lie it matters cause if you are steady at 60, then there's no reason to go higher...
